Shipping costs
All standard shipping is FREE within the UK and the US.
For everywhere else, we offer shipping at a subsidised postage rate. Regretfully, it is no longer viable to offer free shipping worldwide due to escalating costs and the variable service offered by the cheaper suppliers. We took the difficult decision to start to charge a portion of our postage costs for customers outside the UK and the US so we could move to a more reliable postal service, which we hope will benefit both our customers and ourselves. At Phoenix, we believe strongly in quality of product and of service, and these subsidised postal rates should help us to meet the high standards of service our customers deserve.
All items are sent by second-class post (delivery 2-5 days) within the UK, by media mail (delivery 7–15 days) within the US, and by standard or economy airmail (delivery 7–15 days) to all other destinations.
We offer the option of Royal Mail Special Delivery for our UK customers, which they can choose at checkout if they wish to receive their order sooner, for which a charge applies.
If you require a courier service, please contact order@firingthemind.com to expedite your order.
The prices payable for goods are as set out in the website, exclusive of VAT. In the UK print and e-books are currently zero-rated and customers living in the UK will pay no additional VAT charges.
Customers in the EU
Following the introduction on 1 July 2021 of the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS), the rules on purchases made from countries within the EU have changed. Now, all commercial goods imported into the EU from a third country or third territory are subject to VAT irrespective of their value. All purchases from our website from buyers in the EU are now charged VAT at the applicable rate to the particular country. These additional costs go straight to the tax authorities of the relevant country. Registering with IOSS means that all purchases made from our website will go straight through customs and will not be subject to any additional import costs.
The IOSS scheme has led to increased administrative costs and time for us as a company but these costs have not been passed on to our customers.
Customers outside of the UK and the EU
No VAT is added to your orders. Please see Customs charges below for further information.
For countries excluding the UK, the US and EU member states
If you are ordering goods for delivery from the UK, please note that your consignment may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the goods reach the country of destination. Any such charges levied in relation to customs clearance must be paid by you. It is accepted by you that Phoenix Publishing House has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. Phoenix Publishing House recommends that you check with your local customs officials or post office for more information regarding importation taxes/duties that may be applicable to your online order. You will be the importer of record and responsible for any import VAT and duty that needs to be paid. In addition, any charges for import clearance will be paid by you, the customer.
